Overview Qualcomm's Chip Architecture multi-site team of hardware and software architects and systems engineers are driving analysis and defining next-generation architectures for our system-on-chip (SoC) products for the smartphone, tablet, and other product categories. We have an exciting and dynamic technical position available with a focus on SoC analysis for performance, power, and thermals. The successful candidate will work with Architects to engage collaboratively across the company with core HW design & verification, SW, marketing, and product planning teams, to:
Engineeer market-leading mobile SoC products with best-in-class performance and power;
Conduct hands-on performance, power, and/or thermal studies to help define our SoC architecture plans;
Collaborate with HW and SW teams to define best-in-class multimedia, modem, compute and memory technologies;
Empower customers with a new class of powerful emerging workloads like augmented reality, plenoptics, realistic gaming physics, 3D, gesture tracking, etc.
Deploy simulators, profilers, or even real hardware to provide quantitative justification for architectural directions;
Effectively communicate experimental results, review with technical leads and peers, analyze outstanding issues;
Creatively overcome obstacles to obtain the answers to architectural questions;
Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems;
Collaborate within a world-class computer architecture team!
All Qualcomm employees are expected to actively support diversity on their teams, and in the Company. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. 2+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience. Preferred Qualifications
PHD Degree preferred 1+ years industry experience required in one or more of the following areas:
Experience with computer architecture concepts, such as , CPU, GPU, DSP, interconnects, shared memory, etc.
1+ years experience in system or chipset development for SoC products, preferably in the mobile market
Experience with OS principles and HW/SW interaction
Experience with SoC bus, interconnect and memory technologies
Hands-on experience in using and modifying simulators and performance/power models, especially full-system models
Experience in using code and/or system profiling tools
Experience in C/C++/SystemC programming
Experience in VLSI design and verification
Pragmatic scripting & automation skills
Familiarity with any of the following is highly valued: ARM, Linux, GPGPU, OpenCL, OpenGL, Java, Dalvik, RenderScript, Windows SW stack, C++ AMP
Familiarity with multimedia or communication technologies including: video codec, camera, WLAN, LTE, audio codec
Excellent communication and presentation skills
